Dear Friends of Father Jim:
We would like to invite you to participate in the Father Jim McKenna Memorial Fund: Tenth Annual Reverse Raffle and Beefsteak Dinner to be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 7 PM in St. Mary’s Parish Hall located at 300 High Street in Closter, New Jersey. The grand prize for the Reverse Raffle will be $5,000 in gold with additional cash and prizes throughout the evening. The more tickets we sell the more prizes we can give away; however, only 400 tickets will be sold.
It’s almost eleven years since the passing of our beloved Fr. Jim, our friend and our spiritual leader, who was always compassionate toward anyone struggling with the disease of addiction and the hardships that inevitably follow the addict and those who love them. It was Fr. Jim who encouraged the Fund to be created and we continue to celebrate his legacy by raising money so that we may follow his path.
In September, the Fund observed National Recovery Month through sponsoring the New Jersey Recovery Rally, held at Liberty State Park Your continued support has allowed us to have a positive impact on lives through our relationships with those on the front line of addiction recovery: treatment, halfway and recovery houses. Programs such as the Ladder Project for men, Spring House for women, St. Christopher’s Inn, and Straight and Narrow, as well as individuals in the recovering community will always need our support, and we are most thankful for your ongoing assistance.
While the Reverse Raffle is the primary fundraiser for the Father Jim McKenna Memorial Fund, it is also an enormously entertaining evening for all, filled with great company, food, fun, and prizes. At the dinner, every number sold will be picked and the very last number announced is the winner. It’s the only raffle in which you don’t want to hear your number called too soon! The winner need not be present at the dinner – although it makes it more electrifying if the lucky person is there.
Please join us this year for our Beefsteak Dinner in which you will be able to fill yourself with some of the most delicious beef you’ve ever tasted. The admission price, the most reasonable in the area, includes non-alcoholic beverages, and you are invited to bring your own bottled beverages. We continue to invite, as our guests, the men of the Ladder Project and the women of Spring House for Father Jim would always welcome the newcomer to sit at his table.
